Dr Gajendra Chawla , director of vision care & research centre Bring 15 bedded exclusive eye hospital, he passed his master degree in ophthalmology in 1991 from Gandhi Medical College Bhopal. He underwent 2 year fellowship training programme in vitreo retinal surgery from world’s premium institute Sankara nethralaya Chennai from 1991 to 1993

After completion of fellowship, he worked as vitreo retinal consultant at Venu eye institute New Delhi. In 1996 he joined Bhopal eye hospital Bhopal as vitreo retinal consultant. He has key pioneered vitreo retinal surgery & laser in Bhopal. In sept. 2000 Dr Chawla become visiting vitreo retinal consultant to various hospitals at Bhopal including Ajwani eye hospital, sewasadan eye hospital, mata mandir netra sewa Kendra, apart from his own clinic. Finally his dream came true on 16th march 2008 when 10-beded exclusive eye hospital Vision Care & research centre started functioning.

Dr Chawla is having good academic career also. He is invited regularly as guest faculty in various ophthalmological conferences including Bhopal divisional ophthalmic society, Indore Divisional ophthalmic society, and MP state ophthalmic society, Delhi ophthalmic society and has delivered talk on subjects. His main area of interest is Diabetic eye disease and retinopathy of prematurity. At present he is The Precident of Bhopal divisional ophthalmic society.

Dr Chawla is keen to extend his professional services to most needy & weaker section of society who either cannot afford or services are not approachable to them. He is founder chairman of NGO Vision Academy – The socio medical society since its inception in 2008. Under leadership of Dr Chawla, vision academy is involved in creating awareness/screening of diabetic patients in Bhopal and surrounding eight districts including Itarsi, Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar, Rajgarh etc.

Dr. Aashul Chawla is a highly trained vitreo-retina specialist and retina surgeon in Bhopal, recognised for his expertise in diagnosing and managing complex retinal diseases with precision, compassion, and academic depth.
 
He completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Nagpur, and MS in Ophthalmology from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Government Medical College, Jabalpur—both esteemed government institutions in India. Notably, Dr. Chawla was selected in his very first attempt through the NEET exam via the All India Quota (AIQ) in the general category, without taking any drop year—a testament to his consistent academic excellence across competitive national-level medical entrance exams.
 
Dr. Chawla has completed his clinical fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery from the renowned Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, where he received advanced surgical and diagnostic training under some of India’s most respected retinal specialists.
 
His academic and clinical exposure has also been enriched by prestigious international training programs, including:
 
-A focused training in Artificial Intelligence and Diabetic Retinopathy at Rajavithi Hospital, Bangkok, under Prof. Dr. Paisan Ruamviboonsuk,
-Invitation as International Guest Faculty at Thailand’s National Retinal Disease Technology Transfer Project, and
-Ongoing advanced training in Oculomics in Hong Kong, exploring the role of retinal biomarkers in systemic disease detection.
-He holds 6 medical indian and international degrees including:
 
Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in Ophthalmology,
Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS), India.
He has also cleared steps of Fellow of the International Council of Ophthalmology(FICO, United Kingdom). Dr. Chawla has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in national and international ophthalmology journals, and regularly presents as faculty speaker at leading retina conferences. His areas of interest include:
 
-Diabetic Retinopathy and AI Screening Models,
-Retinal Dystrophies and Inherited Retinal Diseases,
-Sutureless Secondary Intraocular Lens Fixation Techniques,
-Advanced Multimodal Retinal Imaging, and
-Community Outreach and Preventive Retina Care in underserved regions.
-Blending global exposure with strong academic roots, Dr. Aashul Chawla continues to contribute to the advancement of retinal care in India, making him a respected name among the new generation of retina specialists in the country.
